So verschieden die Gruppierungen, so unterschiedlich die vorgetragenen Reden, Lieder und Gedichte. Der Film blickt ebenso besonnen auf das Abweichen der jeweiligen Geschichtsbilder wie auf die Inszenierungen selbst.
\nGedenktafeln, heroische Statuen, niedergelegte Kr\u00e4nze: Ein Jahr lang wohnten Ekaterina Shapiro-Obermair und Alexandra Wachter einer Reihe von Gedenkritualen im ukrainischen Lemberg bei \u2013 allesamt gekn\u00fcpft an Ereignisse des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Welches Verh\u00e4ltnis zur Vergangenheit hat die ehemals polnisch-ukrainisch-j\u00fcdische Stadt, die 1939 von der Roten Armee und 1941 von der Wehrmacht besetzt wurde? Wie beeinflusst das gegenw\u00e4rtige Ringen um Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit die Perspektive, von der aus auf die Geschichte geblickt wird? So verschieden die Gruppierungen, so unterschiedlich die vorgetragenen Reden, Chorlieder und Gedichte. Das Abweichen der jeweiligen Geschichtsbilder entbehrt nicht einer gewissen Komik \u2013 die beobachtet der Film ebenso besonnen wie die Inszenierungen selbst.

\nHow do we deal with our history? Is it possible that history becomes rather a tool made to justify our current interests and views? Such questions are posed in the observation documentary called\u00a0de fac-to<\/em>. The filmmakers visited several public events commemorating World War II in the Ukrainian town of Lviv. Moving recitations of poems are followed by anti-alcoholism propagandist bashings, allegations claiming that decommunization process in the Ukraine had been started by Hitler or comparing numbers of victims during Nazi and Communist eras. This diverse, often absurd\u00a0kaleidoscope is structured as a stream of footage of events in chronological order with no\u00a0commentary.

\u201cLw\u00f3w, \u05dc\u05e2\u05de\u05d1\u05e2\u05e8\u05d2\u200e, \u041b\u044c\u0432\u0456\u0432, Lemberg, Lviv\u201943: The City that did (not) Survive\u201d is a series of memorial activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of liquidation of the ghetto and Janowska concentration camp in Lviv. Throughout March-November, 2018, the city will host lectures, exhibitions, and memorial concerts. The program is running with support of Lviv City Council, and in partnership with research, museum, and cultural organization of the city, such as the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes \u201cTerritory of Terror,\u201d Center for Urban History of East Central Europe, Charity Fund Hesed-Arje, Lviv Organ and Chamber Music Hall, \u201cCollegium Musicum\u201d Music Agency, Jewish Studies Program at UCU, Charity fund B\u2019ney B\u2019rit \u201cLeopolis\u201d named after Emil Domberger. \nIn Bandiera Rossa erz\u00e4hlt der ukrainische Bildhauer Mykola Posikira die Entstehungsgeschichte seines wohl umstrittensten Werks \u2013 des Denkmals f\u00fcr den F\u00fchrer der ukrainischen Nationalisten, Stepan Bandera, in Lwiw\/Lemberg. In dem Gespr\u00e4ch in seinem Atelier legt der K\u00fcnstler auch seine eigenen, etwas anachronistisch wirkenden gesellschaftspolitischen Ansichten offen. Den Zusehern \u00f6ffnet sich ein kleines Fenster auf die durch Spannungen und Antagonismen gepr\u00e4gte ukrainische Gesellschaft.

\nThe presentation introduces the on-going interdisciplinary project \u201cLviv. Museum of War,\u201d realized in collaboration with historian Alexandra Wachter. The research focuses on contemporary forms of performative commemoration of the traumas of the 20th and 21st centuries in Eastern Europe using the city of Lviv as an example. Resulting from its historical and geographical background, as well as its current geopolitical occurrence, Lviv is a place where the polyphony of voices and historical narratives offer a rich material for artistic and scientific investigations. Even if Western Ukraine was not directly involved in the cultural processes of the Soviet Union until 1939, nowadays its ways of remembering historical events are deeply rooted in the Soviet tradition of a public holiday with its origin in first commemorations of the October Revolution. These celebrations have undergone multiple transformations during the entire Soviet period and in the time of Brezhnev this most important date of the Soviet calendar was replaced in its symbolic meaning by the celebrations of the Day of Victory. The project \u201cLviv. Museum of War\u201d is based on applying the documentary approach in the field of visual art and using strategies of visual analysis to investigate current representations.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nDas interdisziplin\u00e4re Projekt untersucht anhand von Monumenten und Museen zum Zweiten Weltkrieg die Gedenkkulturen in der Stadt Lwiw. Die Recherche ist dabei auf die Erforschung des Visuellen fokusiert und nimmt auch die aktuelle ukrainische Geschichtspolitik ins Visier. Vorgestellt werden die vier gro\u00dfen Narrative der Stadt: das ukrainische, das sowjetische, das j\u00fcdische und das polnische, zu deren VertreterInnen im Rahmen mehrerer Feldforschungen ein Dialog aufgebaut wurde.

\nAn zwei Terminen im M\u00e4rz, dem 15.03. im hoast und dem 21.03. im Depot, werden erstmals Ausschnitte aus dem umfassenden Videomaterial einer \u00d6ffentlichkeit in Wien pr\u00e4sentiert. Das speziell f\u00fcr die Pr\u00e4sentation entwickelte Format ist der Interdisziplinarit\u00e4t des Projekts geschuldet und stellt einen performativen Vortrag dar. Durch das Wechselspiel von Videosequenzen mit Diskussionen werden Einblicke in sehr spezifische Situationen und Stimmungen vor Ort erm\u00f6glicht. Das Ergebnis selbst wird zu einem \u201eKriegsmuseum\u201c, in dem Orte und Menschen vorgestellt werden. Die Vielfalt und die Widerspr\u00fcchlichkeit aufgezeigter Gedenkpraktiken zeugt von der Komplexit\u00e4t historischer Vorg\u00e4nge, aber auch von der Komplexit\u00e4t zeitgen\u00f6ssischer Identit\u00e4ten. \u00dcber die Enge der Ortsbezogenheit hinaus wird damit die Frage nach der Findung nationaler und im weitesten Sinne europ\u00e4ischer Selbstfindung gestellt.
